UNILORIN INSU celebrates Akogun, Abubakar’s new status

The Igbomina National Students’ Union (INSU), University of Ilorin Chapter, has congratulated two distinguished members of the Igbomina community on their remarkable achievements and recognitions.

In a statement jointly signed by the Union’s Executive President, Moshood Olanrewaju Ajibaye, and the Public Relations Officer, Mubaraq Ibukunoluwa Titiloye, and made available to UNILORIN Bulletin last Friday (December 19, 2025), the Union stated:“ Mr Kunle Akogun, our esteemed Grand Patron, has been appointed Chief Akogun of Oke-Ode and assumes the pivotal role of Secretary to the Elesa-in-Council. This prestigious appointment recognises his unwavering dedication, exemplary leadership, and invaluable contributions to the growth, unity, and development of the Igbomina community.”

The statement further noted that, “Known for his integrity, wisdom, and commitment to service, Mr Akogun continues to inspire students and community members alike.”

The Union said, “As he embarks on this new chapter, we pray for greater wisdom, strength, and success for Mr Akogun,” expressing optimism that his tenure will bring progress, peace, and prosperity to Oke-Ode and the entire Igbomina land.

The Union also congratulated Mr Mustafa Muhammad Abubakar, Assistant Director (Information) at the Directorate of Corporate Affairs, University of Ilorin, on his induction as a Member of the International Press Institute Nigeria (IPI Nigeria).

It said, “This recognition underscores Mr Abubakar’s dedication, professionalism, and outstanding contributions to media practice, communication excellence, and institutional representation.”

“His consistent commitment to truth, integrity, and accurate information dissemination has earned him respect within the University and across the global press community. His achievement serves as an inspiration to students, communication practitioners, and the wider Igbomina community,” it added.

The statement stressed that INSU celebrates both Mr Akogun and Mr Abubakar for their achievements and contributions, affirming that their dedication, service, and leadership continue to reflect the values and aspirations of the Igbomina community.
