The Management of UNILORIN Holdings Limited has expressed delight over its partnership with the University in driving a major transformation of campus transportation, following the official unveiling of five Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses and 20 electric tricycles last Friday (January 2, 2026).
In a statement released via the company’s official Facebook handle last Friday, UNILORIN Holdings noted that the initiative, designed to significantly enhance mobility within the University community, underscores the strategic leadership of the Vice Chancellor and the collective resolve of the University management to prioritise student welfare, operational efficiency, and sustainable development.
The company further described the project as a thoughtful and well-coordinated intervention aimed at addressing the long-standing transportation challenges on campus.
The statement read, “With the introduction of the CNG buses, the University of Ilorin has not only provided a practical solution to transportation constraints faced by students and staff but has also demonstrated a strong commitment to environmentally responsible practices in line with global standards. The move reflects foresight, innovation, and a clear understanding of the everyday needs of the university community.”
Meanwhile, students and staff, as well as regular commuters, have commended the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, members of his management team, and the Management of UNILORIN Holdings Limited on their proactive planning, visionary collaboration, and dedication to creating a more accessible, comfortable, and future-ready campus environment.
The development stands as a testament to purposeful governance, strong institutional synergy, and a shared commitment to continuous improvement at the University.
