UNILORIN donates motorcycle to Police to boost community security

The University of Ilorin has donated a motorcycle to the Fufu Divisional Police Command as part of efforts to strengthen community security and support law enforcement operations within its host communities.

The Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, presented the motorcycle to the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), CSP Iyoha Eboseimeh last Wednesday (February 18, 2026), as part of activities marking the orientation programme for the 2025/2026 academic session of the School of Preliminary Studies (SPS), held at the SPS Hall, Fufu.

Represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Management Services), Prof. Adegboyega Adisa Fawole, the Vice Chancellor said the gesture was aimed at enhancing policing efficiency and improving response time to security concerns for the overall benefit of humanity and the University environment.

While noting that security remains a shared responsibility between institutions and security agencies, the Vice Chancellor said the motorcycle would assist the police in surveillance patrols, rapid response to distress calls, and general crime prevention within Fufu and adjoining communities.

He reaffirmed the commitment of the University to maintaining a safe learning and working environment, adding that the institution would continue to partner with security agencies to promote peace and stability around the campus and host communities.

Receiving the motorcycle, CSPĀ  Eboseimeh expressed appreciation to the University management for the timely intervention and support.

The DPO described the donation as a significant boost to the operational capacity of the command, especially in enhancing mobility for patrol duties and emergency response.

He assured the University community that the motorcycle would be judiciously utilised to improve security presence within Fufu and its environs, while also str

engthening collaboration between the police and members of the community.
