UNILORIN CBT Directorate, a model of excellence – Raufu

The Directorate of Computer-Based Test, University of Ilorin, has once again demonstrated its commitment to excellence, as 37,722 students have commenced the first semester CBT test in batches.

The CBT Director, Prof. Raufu Kamilu, disclosed this penultimate Thursday (January 9, 2025) while fielding questions on a popular Yoruba programme, titled “Ko Tan Sibe” on UNILORIN FM, anchored by the Station Manager, Mr Idris Alooma.

Prof. Kamilu stated that the Directorate is fair to all students, excellent in handling technical and personnel issues, and seamless in all ramifications. He noted that the test, which commenced on January 6 and is expected to end on January 17, has been going on smoothly without any hitch.

The Director attributed this success to the fantastic security architecture, including University security and supportive security personnel, health workers, CBT staff members, and CBT Committee members.

He said, “To ensure that no student is left behind, provision has been made for those who missed the test due to reasonable, logical, and factually proven reasons, such as health issues or accidents”.

Prof. Kamilu emphasised that adequate announcements are made through various channels, including the Dean of Student Affairs, leadership of the students, radio announcements on UNILORIN FM, and soon, the upcoming Unilorin Television Station. He added that individual phone calls are made to all involved students.

The Director urged students to read widely to ensure success, highlighting the fringe benefits available to University scholars, including monetary rewards, free accommodation, and scholarships for those who excel.

Prof. Kamilu, who is also a lecturer in the Department of Mathematics, expressed his appreciation for the cooperation and support received from the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN; the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Abayomi Omotesho; staff of the CBT Directorate, the CBT Committee, lecturers, students, and others.

He emphasised that with its commitment to excellence and fairness, the University of Ilorin’s CBT Directorate is indeed a model for other institutions to follow.
