The University of Ilorin Business School has recorded improved student intake and strengthened its academic offerings for the 2025/2026 academic session, further consolidating its position as a leading centre for postgraduate professional education in Nigeria.
The new academic session commenced with returning students resuming on January 5, 2026, while fresh students began lectures on January 19, 2026.
Academic activities have progressed smoothly, with lecturers fully engaged and students actively participating in their various programmes.
This was disclosed by a Principal Assistant Registrar attached to the School, Mrs Bosede Ademola, while speaking to UNILORIN Bulletin penultimate Thursday (February 26, 2026), in her office.
Mrs Ademola said that the management of the School has been deliberate and strategic in repositioning its academic structures to meet emerging industry and societal needs.
According to her, a series of management meetings were held at the beginning of the year to develop new academic programmes designed to align with contemporary professional demands.
The proposals have since been forwarded to the University Management for necessary consideration and approval. She expressed optimism that after due deliberations, the University Management would grant favourable approval to the proposed programmes. She expressed confidence in the institution’s tradition of supporting innovation and growth.
Mrs Ademola also revealed that student intake into the Master’s in Social Development and Planning (MSDP), introduced last year, has witnessed a significant increase compared to its inaugural year, despite stiff competition in the postgraduate education sector.
The Principal Assistant Registrar added that many candidates still prefer the University of Ilorin because of its reputation for stability, academic excellence, and integrity, noting that certificates obtained from the University carry substantial value.
She further stated that the Business School currently runs several postgraduate programmes, including Master of Business Administration (MBA), Master in Social Development and Planning (MSDP), Master of Public Administration (MPA), Master in Industrial and Labour Relations, Postgraduate Diploma in Strategy Management (PGDSM), and other management-related Master degrees.
While commending the University Management on its consistent support and responsiveness, Mrs Ademola appealed for additional infrastructural assistance, particularly the provision of a solar power system and essential equipment, to enhance operational efficiency and ensure seamless day-to-day academic activities.
