Three graduates of the Department of Biomedical Engineering, University of Ilorin; Yinusa Oluwatofunmi Ayomide, Arowosegbe Khadijah Olabisi, and Momoh Abdullateef Onimisi, have emerged first runner-up at the just concluded Ilorin Innovation Challenge & Hackathon.

The event, organised by the Ilorin Innovation Hub in partnership with Co-Creation Hub (CcHub), was held at the Innovation Hub on Wednesday(November 6,2025).

The team, which was guided by Dr Sulaiman Yahaya and Engr Idris Munir, developed “Nọọsi,” an innovative medical robot designed to enhance medication adherence and real-time health monitoring, to clinch the position.

The team leader, Yinusa Oluwatofunmi Ayomide, said the solution integrates alarms and smart reminder features to support elderly patients and individuals on complex medication plans, helping them manage treatment schedules seamlessly and maintain better health outcomes.

Reacting to the achievement, the Head of the Department, Dr Sani Saminu, said that the groundbreaking project reflects the rising capacity of UNILORIN’s Biomedical Engineering programme in producing forward-thinking innovators who apply technology to solve pressing real-world healthcare.

Dr Saminu commended the team members for their outstanding performance, urging them to continue striving for excellence.

He encouraged them to “keep the banner of the University flying”, as they advance in their professional and research pursuits.
