A 2016 graduate of the Department of Information Technology, Faculty of Communication and Information Sciences, University of Ilorin, Mr Adeyinka Bakare, has awarded scholarships to three students of the Department.
The Ag.Head of the Department, Dr M. O. Oloyede, who disclosed this last Tuesday(March 25, 2025) in a chat withUNILORIN Bulletin, named the three beneficiaries as Soliu Abdulbasit, a 100-level student, who received ₦305,888; Soliu Rilwan, a 200-level student, who got ₦156,526; and Olukoya Seyifunmi, a 200-level female student, who received ₦163,326.
According to Dr Oloyede, Mr Adeyinka’s initiative demonstrates his commitment to giving back to his alma mater and supporting students who face financial challenges due to the country’s economic situation.
The Head of Department expressed appreciation on behalf of the Department to Adeyinka’s Fellowship Foundation for its contribution to the academic pursuit of the students and for ensuring that the financial obligations of the beneficiaries are met for the academic year.
“I believe your kindness will have a lasting impact on their lives,” Dr Oloyede said.
Dr Oloyede also called on other alumni of the Department to emulate Mr Adeyinka’s gesture by contributing their quotas to the growth of the Department, noting that such support is highly needed and would be appreciated.
The don equally appealed to the University Management not to relent in its efforts to engage with alumni of the institution globally.
