Ademola Adekunbi (Ade) is a privacy and innovation-focused lawyer, currently serving as Senior Legal Services Manager (Data & Research) at The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust, the UK’s leading cancer centre and a world leader in healthcare innovation. In this role, he supports high-impact research and clinical partnerships—particularly by facilitating cross-border data-sharing, managing complex research agreements, and ensuring data protection compliance in global collaborations with pharmaceutical companies, other healthcare organisations, and academic institutions.
At UNILORIN, Ade served as Attorney General and subsequently Lord Advocate of Liberty Chambers, and then as a Senator and subsequently Senate President of the Students’ Union. He also represented the university in various debate competitions and won a variety of awards within and outside the country, including winning the 4th All-Nigeria Universities Debating Championship and being recognised as the top debater in Africa at the Pan African Universities University Debating Competition. In addition, he received several writing awards including from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, Georgetown University, and Carnegie Council.
A UNILORIN alumnus, Ade ranked in the top 3% of nearly 6,000 candidates at the Nigerian Law School (First Class). He later earned an LL.M. in Commercial Law with Distinction from the University of Exeter, supported by a Global Excellence Scholarship and recognized with a Dean’s Commendation and The Exeter Award.
He is passionate about helping organisations navigate the legal and ethical challenges of using data to advance tomorrow’s healthcare solutions.
