Engr. Abosede Abiola Bello, Ph.D. (née Afolabi) is a highly accomplished and experienced professional in the field of Highways and Transportation Engineering. Her comprehensive expertise spans design, construction supervision, project management, and strategic project monitoring.
Dr. Bello’s academic journey commenced at the University of Ilorin, Nigeria, where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with a Second Class Upper Division in 1999. She further specialised by obtaining her Master’s in Civil Engineering in 2012, and subsequently, a Ph.D in Civil Engineering in 2019, both also from the University of Ilorin.
Her career began in 1999 as a pupil engineer with the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing, Abuja, during her National Youth Service Corps (NYSC). Over the years, Dr. Bello has contributed significantly to major engineering projects across Nigeria.
From 2006 to 2008, as a Highway/Bridge Engineer with Sanol Engineering Consultants Limited, Dr. Bello participated in crucial projects, including the construction supervision of the Nasarawa – Toto – Abaji Road, and the engineering design of several key expressways and roads in Abia and Jigawa States.
Her leadership capabilities shone during her tenure as a Project Manager with F. A. Oseni Engineering Services from 2008 to 2015, where she served as a consultant representing FERMA (Federal Roads Maintenance Agency) in Ondo State, overseeing federal highways.
Currently, Dr. Bello serves as an Assistant Director at the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund). In this role, she is responsible for reporting on and confirming project statuses for fund releases, conducting periodic visitations to TETFund intervention projects, and monitoring tender openings and project execution.
Dr. Bello is a Member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) and Corporate Member of the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN). She is also a Member of the Nigeria Institute of Management (Chartered), underlining her commitment to professional excellence and development within the engineering community.
Dr. Bello, one of the 50 Ambassadors unveiled in July 2025 as part of the University of Ilorin’s 50th-anniversary celebration, will also turn 50 on Sunday, February 8, 2026, having been born on February 8, 1976, in Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria.
She enjoys a happy family life with her husband and their beautiful children.
