UNILORIN Alumni Association accuses Fasakin of impersonation

The University of Ilorin Alumni Association, the umbrella body of all the graduates of the nation’s most sought-after University, has warned a former National President of the body, Dr Wale Fasakin, against further impersonation of its incumbent President, Prof. Abdulrasaq Kilani.

The Association, in a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Chief Ola Elijah Olorunsuwa, a copy of which was sighted by UNILORIN Bulletin, said that the action of the former President was not only condemnable but also a disservice to the integrity of the Association and the University.

Chief Olorunsuwa said, “We strongly condemn this impersonation and alert all stakeholders and wish to bring to the awareness of the public of Dr. Fasakin’s nefarious and disgraceful acts and those of his cohorts, especially a recent visit to the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Mrs Kemi Nanna Nandap, and his recent purported inauguration of the Board of Trustees for the Association. We advise against dealing with him on behalf of the Unilorin Alumni Association”.

The Association’s spokesman explained that the tenure of Dr Fasakin “came to an end in 2021 through a resolution of the Congress, which was informed by the gross abuse of office, high handedness, and betrayal of the Association’s trust and constitution”.

He recalled that a Caretaker Committee was immediately raised and that the Caretaker Committee governed the activities of the Association until its tenure ended on August 24, 2024, following the conduct of an election, which produced a new set of Executive  under the leadership of Prof. Kilani.

While warning members of the public against doing any business with Dr Fasakin and his cohorts in the name of the Association, the statement urged concerned security agencies to swiftly call the impersonators to order to avoid breach of the law.
