64 ALUMNI, ONE OTHER LISTED FOR HONOUR IN LANDMARK AWARD CEREMONY

As part of the activities commemorating its Golden Jubilee, the University of Ilorin will, on Wednesday (July 16, 2025), honour 65 eminent Nigerians, 64 of whom are alumni of the nation’s most acclaimed institution.
The landmark event, tagged ‘Investiture Ceremony of Unilorin Ambassadors, Distinguished Alumni, and Award of Excellence’, will hold at the University Auditorium beginning from 11.00 a.m.
A statement made available to UNILORIN Bulletin by the Chairman, Awards Planning Committee, Prof. AbdulRasheed A. Adeoye, said, “The ceremony will celebrate alumni and individuals who have excelled in their various fields, enhanced the image and reputation of our University, and have contributed meaningfully to its growth and development.”
Prof. Adeoye further said that “specifically, one alumnus and another distinguished Nigerian will receive the Award of Excellence, 10 will be honoured as Distinguished Alumni, while 50 individuals and three graduating sets will be invested as Unilorin Ambassadors.”
According to the Committee Chairman, “This ceremony is not only a recognition of the achievements of our distinguished honourees but also a moment of reflection and pride for us all as members of the UNILORIN family.”
Among those to be honoured are, the 8th Vice Chancellor of the University and Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Prof. Emeritus Is’haq Olanrewaju Oloyede, CON; Dr Tunji Olowolafe, Dr Adeyemi Murtadha Adeniji, the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), Prof. Temidayo Oladiji; former Managing Director of the Nigerian Liquefied Natural Gas Ltd., Mr Babatunde Omotowa; prominent Accountant, Dr Abdulwahab Adebayo Ibrahim; former CBN Deputy Governor, Dr Sarah Omotunde Alade; the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Services, Mrs Kemi Nanna Nandap; and the immediate past Vice Chancellor of the University of Abuja, Prof. Abdulrasheed Na’Allah.
Also to be honoured are, the Vice Chancellor of Federal University, Lokoja, Prof. Olayemi Akinwumi, Prof. David Durosomo, Justice Asmau Tanwa Akanbi, Mr Adedeji Sarafadeen Abdulkadir, SAN, Chief Rafiu Oyeyemi Balogun, SAN, Dr Umar Oseni, Dr Adekumbi Omotosho, Jimoh Julius Olorunfemi, Dr Ebun L. Bamigboye, Dr Ifedayo Adetifa, Dr Justus Adebanjo Adeleke, Dr Mutiu Olaleke Agboke, Dr Olatunde Adekola, and Dr Taiye Ayotunde Oniyide, SAN.
Others include the Managing Director of Thisday Newspaper, Mr Eniola Bello; the Director of Current Affairs of Television Continental (TVC) Mr Babajide Kolade-Otitoju; the Political Editor of Channels Television, Mr Seun Okinbaloye; renowned Nollywood actor, Femi Adebayo, Esq; Grace Abikoye, the Olupo of Ajase-Ipo, HRM Oba Ismail Bolaji Yahaya Muhammed; the Elerinmo of Erinmo-Ijesha, HRM Oba Michael Ajayi; Arisekola Tunde Muritala, Lukman Oyebanji Fagbemi, SAN, and Lukman Shobowale.
Also on the list of honorees are the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Management Services), Prof. Adegboyega Adisa Fawole; Mallam Abdufatai Bello, Mr Bolaji Elelu, Ismail Eleburuike, Oluwole Abegunde, Tony Edeh, Musty Omotosho Mustapha, Olaolu Akintunde, SAN, Olaolu Owolabi, SAN, Olawole Olarewaju Obasunloye, Oluwole Ololade Adeosun, Oyetola Muyiwa Atoyebi, SAN, and Oluwole Aladedoye, SAN.
Others include the National President of the UNILORIN Alumni Association, Prof. Abdulrazak Olubusuyi Kilani; a former Deputy Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Adedayo Yusuf Abdulkareem; Prof. Babatunde Rabiu, FAS, the Vice Chancellor of Ojaja University, Eiyenkorin, Ilorin, Prof. Jeleel Olasunkanmi Ojuade; Prof. Kene Igweonu, the Vice Chancellor of African School of Economics, Abuja, Prof. Mahfouz Adebola Adedimeji; the Vice Chancellor of Muhammed Kamaludeen University, Ilorin, Prof. Rasheed Gbenga Jimoh; and the Vice Chancellor of the University of Applied Science, Engineering and Technology, The Gambia. Also to be honoured are the 1984 Medical Graduates, the 1992 Agric Graduates, and the Alumni of the Accounting & Finance Departments.
The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, is the Chief Host of the occasion. Eminent legal luminary and Professor of Practice, Mallam Yusuf Olaolu Ali, SAN, will deliver a keynote address at the event while the Chairman of the 50th Anniversary Planning Committee, Prof. Olugbenga Mokuolu, will also deliver a goodwill message.
