A former Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Professor Emeritus Is-haq Olanrewaju Oloyede; Professor of Practice, Olaolu Ali, SAN; Associate Professor of Jurisprudence and International Law at the University of Ilorin, Dr Barakat A. Raji, and the Director of Works of the University, Mr Ramoni Amoo, were among the 29 people honoured by Obafemi Awolowo University Muslim Graduates’ Association (UNIFEMGA) penultimate Saturday (February 8, 2025).
The event, the 15th edition of the UNIFEMGA National Honours Award, was to honour the alumni for their meritorious services in their various chosen careers and their alma Mater.
Speaking in Ilorin at the event themed “Nigeria’s Economic Reforms:-Mitigating the Challenges through Sustainable Economic Measures”, Prof. Emerit. Oloyede, who is the Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), urged Nigerians to remain united and work in synergy towards ensuring better growth and development of the country.
The Professor Emeritus, who was honoured with the award of ‘Selfless Service to Humanity’, said working as a united people helps drive growth and prosperity.
According to him, people who share common faith and values can come together in unity to contribute to the society.
In his remarks Prof. Yusuf Ali, SAN, said that it is in “our common interest to do good at all times.”
He said many individuals have started with nothing but today God has blessed them to an unimaginable level.
He advised wealthy individuals to inculcate the habit of assisting the needy in the society.
Also speaking with UNILORIN Bulletin, other awardees, Dr Barakat A. Raji and Mr Rahman Amoo, expressed confidence that the awards given them would make them contribute more to human development.
They noted that the honour stands as a testament to their contributions to the growth of the Association and development of the nation.
