Three Faculties-Clinical Sciences, Life Sciences and Communication and Information Sciences, have emerged victorious at this year’s edition of University of Ilorin Inter-Faculty Quiz, Debate, and Public Speaking Contests, respectively.
The finals of the competition, which was organised by the University Quiz, Debate, and Innovation Committee, was held at the University Auditorium penultimate Friday (May 30, 2025), after weeks of rigorous preliminary stages and highly-competitive rounds that witnessed a display of intellectual prowess, eloquence, and spirited rivalry among the University’s brightest minds.
Speaking with UNILORIN Bulletin last Tuesday (June 3, 2025), the Chairman of the Organising Committee, Prof. O. A. Iyiola, disclosed that “the Faculty of Clinical Sciences proved its academic mettle by taking the top spot in the Quiz competition while the Faculties of Life Sciences and Arts secured second and third positions, respectively”.
The Faculty of Life Sciences clinched the first position in the Debate Competition, with the Faculty of Engineering and Technology emerging the first runner-up.The Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences emerged the second runner-up.
The public speaking contest, according to the Organising Committee Chairman, was fiercely competitive with the Faculty of Communication and Information Sciences winning the top prize. The Faculty was followed by the Faculty of Clinical Sciences which emerged as runner-up while the Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences was the second runner-up.
Prof. Iyiola praised all participating students for their dedication, brilliance, and enthusiasm throughout the contest. The competitions witnessed large turns-out of students who came to support their respective Faculties, making the finale not just a test of knowledge and eloquence but also a celebration of campus unity and academic spirit.
