A former Head of the Department of Library and Information Science, University of Ilorin, Prof. Adeyinka Tela, has emerged as the African Librarian of the Month of September, courtesy of the Librarian Spotlight Africa(LSA).
Prof. Tela’s recognition was based on his cumulative academic enterprise in the field of Library and Information Science with over 200 scholarly publications and several global recognitions that place him at the very top of his field.
The honouree, who sits on the editorial boards of highly rated international journals, is also former University of Ilorin’s Researcher of the Year.
In addition to the above, Prof. Tela is currently the 28th most productive scientist in Nigeria, the first at the University of Ilorin and the most cited Library and Information Science scholar in Africa since 2015, according to Webometrics.
Reacting to the development, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole,SAN, described Prof. Tela as a pride to the University.
In a statement signed by the University’s Director of Corporate Affairs, Mr Kunle Akogun, the Vice Chancellor thanked Prof. Tela for always bringing honour to the University.
While congratulating the African Librarian of the Month, Prof. Egbewole urged other members of the University’s academic community to emulate the multiple award-winning scholar for the University to take its pride of place among its peers at national and international levels.
