
Elelu delivers 283rd Inaugural Lecture Thursday

The Technical and Entrepreneurship Centre-African Support Bureau for Entrepreneurship (TEC-ASBE), University of Ilorin, has presented two industrial sewing machines and a cash prize of five hundred thousand naira (₦500,000.00) to the first runner-up of the TEC-ASBE Summit 2.0 Talent Hunt, Miss Zainab Abisola Jamiu.
Presenting the items penultimate Friday (May 23, 2025) to Miss Jamiu, who is a 300Level student of the Department of Microbiology, the Director of the Centre, Prof. Usman Adebimpe Raheem, said that the event was organised to showcase the achievements of the Summit winners.
Prof. Raheem explained that the strategy of physical display of the equipment purchased with the prize money was introduced to ensure financial transparency and to ensure that the grants are effectively used to support the recipients’ businesses during and after their academic journeys.
According to Prof. Raheem, “TEC is committed to empowering students with an entrepreneurial mindset. Through the ASBE programme, many of our students are breaking barriers, launching businesses, and preparing for sustainable futures.”
Expressing her gratitude, Miss Jamiu said, “I sincerely appreciate the Technical and Entrepreneurship Centre, the University of Ilorin, and the African Support Bureau for Entrepreneurship for this initiative. I have used the prize money to purchase an industrial sewing machine for my bespoke tailoring business, ZABA COUTURE—an investment vital to the growth and productivity of my brand”.
“Your support has significantly scaled up my business, improving both its efficiency and productivity,” she concluded.
