Student Union’s President, others hail UNILORIN LED-Screen resuscitation

By Abubakar Imam

The President of the University of Ilorin Student Union, Mr Victor O. Agezeh, has welcomed the resuscitation of the gigantic LED-Screen located at the University Fountain Roundabout, saying that it will project the institution properly and particularly to the visitors

Mr Agezeh gave this commendation last Monday (May 12, 2025) while speaking with UNILORIN Bulletin on the development.

The Student Union President, who is a final year student of the Department of Accounting, said that the resuscitation of the facility would go a long way in bridging the communication gap between the University Administration and members of the University community, especially the students.

Mr Agezeh enjoined the University Management to make more effective use of the LED-Screen to reach out to the students, saying that information that requires urgent attention should be shared through the facility.

He explained that once a student gets to know of any development through the medium it would be easier for him to either share the information or encourage his colleagues to do the same.

Mr Agezeh also said that the facility could also assist in raising the University’s Internally Generated Revenue, saying that products and services could be advertised to members of the University community on the large screen.

Also speaking, Mrs Risikat Jumai Abdulkareem of the Postgraduate School, said that the facility has been one of the sources through which she and other staff of the University are kept abreast of unfolding developments in the University.

She noted that the headlines of the UNILORIN Bulletin that are usually displayed on the screen have been the main source many depend upon to know what has been happening.

Another staff member of the University, Mr Felix Dare Afolabi, also thanked the management of the University for ensuring that the facility is fixed.

He explained that many staff and students of the University were in the dark about critical developments because many of them are always too busy to go through their emails to read the weekly newsletter.

Mr Afolabi added that with the resuscitation of the screen more staff and students would become aware of unveiling developments within and beyond the shores of the University.

In her view, a staff of the Centre for Distance Learning, Mrs Kudirat Suleiman, also said that the resuscitation of the facility is a welcome development because of the role it plays in information dissemination.

Mrs Suleiman suggested that such a facility should also be erected at the mini-campus of the University for the benefit of staff and students of the Centre for Distance Learning (CODL), the Institute of Education (IOE), and the Joint University Preliminary Examinations Board (JUPEB).
