Brief Profile of the Head of the Department of Crop Protection

Dr. Robert Omotayo Uddin II was born in Ilorin, Kwara State on the 1st April, 1972. He attended St. Joseph’s Nursery & Primary School, Ilorin, St. Anthony’s Secondary School, Ilorin; University of Ilorin and University of Ibadan. He holds the following Degrees: B. Agric., M.Sc. (Entomology), Ph.D. (Entomology). Dr. Robert Omotayo Uddin II is currently a Senior Lecturer and Head of Department of Crop Protection, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Ilorin.

He is a member of Entomological Society of Nigeria (ESN), Entomological Society of America (ESA), Nigerian Society for Experimental Biology (NSEB), Nigerian Society for Plant Protection (NSPP), Society for the Conservation of Phytofuel and Sciences (SCPS).

Prior to his career in the University of Ilorin, Dr. Uddin II taught in St. Joseph’s Nursery & Primary School, Ilorin and Queen School Apata, Ibadan, Oyo State. He joined the University of Ilorin on 16th June 2008 as an Assistant Lecturer and rose through the ranks to become a Senior Lecturer in 2017. His area of interest is Integrated Pest Management.

He has served the University in various capacities such as Faculty Clearing Officer for B. Agriculture Programme (2016/2017), Member, Faculty Committee on the construction of the Faculty Web (2013 to date), Chairman, Department of Crop Protection Project Committee (2011), Secretary, University of Ilorin Jatropha Plantation Development and Maintenance Committee (2011 to date), Member, University of Ilorin Plantation Management Committee (2011 to date), Undergraduate Examination Officer and Seminar Coordinator (2010 – 2017), Associate lecturer to the Department of Zoology (2013 to date), Member Faculty of Agriculture Document Sub Committee on Accreditation (2014).

He has taught several courses at both the undergraduate and Postgraduate levels at Departments of Crop Protection, Forest Resources Management and Agricultural Extension and Community Development. He has successfully supervised several undergraduate projects and Postgraduate Thesis. He has published in both Local and International Journals and has to his credit 28 published Journal articles and 1 chapter in edited book. He has attended over 20 workshops, Conferences, Seminars and Training.

Dr. Uddin II is married with three daughters. His hobbies include cooking automobiles and aviation.
