SSANU Chairman urges staff to familiarise with varsity’s condition of service

By Idris Alooma

The Chairman of the Senior Staff Association of the University of Ilorin (SSANU), Comrade Naheem Olusola Falowo, has called on all staff members to familiarise themselves with the University’s conditions of service. This, he said, would enable them to avoid violating rules and regulations that govern the institution.

Comrade Falowo made this appeal while featuring on a UNILORIN FM popular Yoruba programme, “Oro to n lo,” hosted by the General Manager of the station, Mr. Idris Alooma.

According to the SSANU Chairman, the implementation of the carrier structure by the management would greatly benefit staff members. He explained that this structure would enable staff to progress beyond level 14 in the University service.

Comrade Falowo assured the staff members that his administration is working closely with the management to ensure the implementation of this structure, which would have a positive  impact on staff welfare.

He also highlighted the various demands of the union from the Federal Government, including arrears of two months’ salary, wage awards, and pensions for retired members. Despite these challenges, he expressed satisfaction that SSANU members currently enjoy several benefits, such as hazard allowance, responsibility allowance, and end-of-year gifts from both the management and the union.

The SSANU Chairman expressed gratitude to the University management, led by Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, for its support and patience. He also thanked SSANU executives and members for their understanding and cooperation, which, he said, have contributed to the success of his administration.
