The Director, Centre for Ilorin Studies (CILS), University of Ilorin, Prof. Issa Olarongbe Sanusi, has commended the Kuliya of Ilorin, Prof. Yusuf Olaolu Ali, SAN, on his generous donation to the CILS over the years.
Prof. Sanusi gave this commendation in a memo dated October 3, 2025, and addressed to the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, a copy of which was made available to UNILORIN Bulletiin.
In the memo, the Director specifically acknowledged the receipt of a cheque of ₦2,000,000 recently donated by the prominent lawyer to CILS to enable it acquire relevant Arabic and Islamic manuscripts written by eminent and notable Islamic scholars to equip the Centre’s library.
Prof. Sanusi explained that the donation was made as a fulfilment of Prof. Ali’s earlier promise to assist the CILS when its management and staff paid him a congratulatory visit, following his appointment as the Kuliya of Ilorin, by His Royal Highness, the Emir of Ilorin and Chairman, Kwara State Council of Chiefs, Alhaji(Dr) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, CFR.
Speaking with UNILORIN Bulletin on the issue, Prof. Sanusi appreciated the patriotic gesture of the foremost legal practitioner as he urged other well-to-do indigenes and friends of Ilorin to emulate Prof. Ali by supporting the Centre with funds and relevant materials to enhance its service delivery capacity.
