An appeal has gone to the Kwara State Government to ensure quick rehabilitation of Abubakar Tafawa-Balewa (UNILORIN-Tanke) Road in Ilorin in the interest of thousands of staff and students of the University of Ilorin and other members of the public who ply the road daily.

            This appeal was made by a cross-section of radio listeners last Tuesday (June 24, 2025) while participating in ‘Tatiwere’, the Yoruba daily newspaper review programme of UNILORIN 89.3 FM.

            The callers, who phoned in from various parts of Ilorin, explained that the continuous failure of the road was not good for the image of Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, and the University of Ilorin, which is one of the leading citadels of learning in Nigeria.

            They also described the road as one of the busiest in Ilorin, considering the number of motorists that ply it every day, adding that the calibre of individuals from all over Nigeria and beyond who also pass through the road makes it deserving of being put in good shape at all times for the preservation of the good image of Kwara State and the University of Ilorin.

            They explained that one of the ways by which the Kwara State Government can reward staff members of the University for the huge amount it gets from them as taxes is by fixing the road.
