The Golden Jubilee celebration of the University of Ilorin has got a refreshing boost, thanks to a generous donation from Pepsi. The beverage brewing giant donated 300 packs of assorted drinks to support the upcoming activities leading up the University’s 50th anniversary.

The presentation was made penultimate Saturday (October 25, 2025) by Mr Michael Adekunle Ekomitan, the Divisional Sales Manager for Seven-Up Bottling Company Ltd in Ilorin, who represented the company. Mr Ekomitan is also an alumnus of the Department of Geography, University of Ilorin.

Receiving the donation on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Wahab Egbewole, SAN, the Chairman of the 50th Anniversary Planning Committee, Prof. Olugbenga Ayodeji Mokuolu, expressed the University’s gratitude to the company.

Prof. Mokuolu, who was joined by the Secretary of the Committee, Mrs Taiwo Afolayan, and a Deputy Registrar, Mrs Rita Abimbola Ologe, and a Principal Assistant Registrar, Mr Abdulkadir Yinka Kuranga, pointed out that the support from corporate organisations like Pepsi is invaluable in ensuring a successful and memorable celebration.
