The University Librarian, University of Ilorin, Prof. Kamaldeen Tunde Omopupa, has commended the quality of partnership between the University and the Nigerian Army Institute of Education, Science and Technology (NAISET), Ilorin.

Prof. Omopupa gave this commendation recently while speaking at the graduation ceremony of students of Basic Certificate in Library Science of the Institute at the Sobi Cantonment, Ilorin.

The University Librarian commended the students for displaying discipline and excellent performance in the course of their two-week internship at the University.

Prof. Omopupa, who was represented at the event by a Principal Librarian, Dr Aminat Abdulssalam, expressed conviction that with the quality of training inculcated in them the graduands are fully prepared to impact positively on the service delivery that would be attainable in the Nigerian Army libraries.

Speaking earlier, the Provost of NAISET, Brigadier-General Emmanuel Chidi Echebiwe, thanked the University for its partnership and support to the Nigerian Army over the years.

Brigadier-General Echebiwe, who was represented by the Deputy Provost (Administration), Lt. Colonel Veli Goje Burak, congratulated the graduands for recording another milestone in their careers.

He also encouraged them to apply their newly acquired knowledge and skills to bring positive changes to their units, the Nigerian Army and the nation at large.

Speaking on behalf of the graduating students, Lt. Colonel Kabir Abdul, expressed gratitude to the University of Ilorin for its support in seeing them through the programme, particularly in the course of their internship at the UNILORIN Library. He also thanked the management and staff of NAISET for their mentorship and guidance as he assured that the knowledge gained would be deployed in line with the Nigerian Army standards.

The representative of the University Librarian was accompanied to the event by a Senior Librarian, Mr Usman Ajisafe Saliu and Mr Almansoor Bakare of the Technical Services Division of the University Library.
