A Professor of Wireless Telecommunications at the University of Ilorin, Abdulkarim Oloyede, has been appointed as one of the judges for the upcoming National Radio Frequency Spectrum Sandbox Initiative competition, organised by the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy.
This was contained in a letter addressed to Prof. Oloyede by the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Engr Faruk Yusuf Yabo,
The letter, dated January 27, 2025, stated that the appointment was in recognition of Prof. Oloyede’s expertise in the development of the ICT sector, adding that “the Ministry wishes to request you to be part of the expert team that will serve as a Judge for the upcoming national competition”.
The Permanent Secretary said, “I write to inform you that the Ministry, as part of its mandate of promoting the development of ICT in the country, is organising a national competition aimed at creating a “Sandbox Project” for the development of Radio Frequency (RF) Spectrum related talents and encouraging locally conceived engineering projects and programmes in Nigeria.”
