NIALS to partner UNILORIN Law Faculty

The National Institute of Advanced Legal Studies (NIALS) is set to collaborate with the University of Ilorin’s Faculty of Law and other universities nationwide to enhance legal education, research grant boosting, and commercialisation of legal research outputs, the Director-General of the Institute, Prof. Abduquadri Ibrahim Abikan, has pledged.

Speaking on the “Countdown to Unilorin @ 50” radio programme penultimate Tuesday (November 25, 2025) anchored by the General Manager, UNILORIN FM radio station, Mr Idris Alooma, Prof. Abikan reflected on his 24-year association with the University of Ilorin, describing it as pivotal in his academic journey.

He recalled Unilorin’s support for his Ph.D. programme abroad, which shaped his growth.

As NIALS DG, Prof. Abikan promised to drive initiatives that would enhance legal education, including a digital repository for law research output nationwide.

He praised the efforts of the UNILORIN Faculty of Law Alumni and emphasised unity and patriotism for nation-building.

He expressed optimism about Unilorin’s new Research Centre, saying that it would propel it to top rankings.

Prof. Abikan congratulated the University of Ilorin on its milestones and reaffirmed confidence in its reputation as a leading Nigerian University.
