Medical College Alumni marks 35 year of graduation with borehole donation

Arrangements are at an advanced stage for the construction of a multi-million naira solar-powered borehole by the 1991 medical graduands of the College of Health Sciences, University of Ilorin for the College.
The pledge was announced in a letter sent to the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, by the alumni.
According to the letter, which was signed by Prof. Ademola Popoola, on behalf of the Class of 1991 Medical graduands of the University and sighted by UNILORIN Bulletin, the borehole which would have a 6000 litre storage will be sited at the male hostel located at the old College.
The letter reads in part, ” On behalf of the Class of 1991 Medical Graduands, I am pleased to notify you of our intention to donate a solar-powered borehole with a 6000-litre water tank to the male medical students’ hostel in the Old College . This initiative follows our interaction with current students and subsequent discussion with the Provost.
“This project commemorates our 35th year post-graduation and expresses our gratitude to God and to the University of Ilorin Medical School for the solid foundation laid during our training. We believe the borehole will provide a reliable source of clean water thereby improving the welfare and academic experience of medical students. ”
The letter said that the alumni have a committed team on ground which is ready to execute the project with the guidance of the University management.
Meanwhile, the Registrar of the University of Ilorin , Mr. Mansur Adeleke Alfanla, has expressed profound appreciation of the University to the donors.
In a letter sent to the 1991 College of Health Sciences alumni, the Registrar said, “Your generous support as esteemed alumni is testament to your unwavering commitment to giving back to your alma mater and your dedication to the University’s development.
“This kind gesture will greatly alleviate the water challenges faced by students in the Old College of Health Sciences.
“Please be assured that the solar-powered borehole would be effectively put to use.”
