Management pays condolence visit to ex-DVC

The Management of the University of Ilorin has paid a condolence visit to the former Deputy Vice Chancellor (Management Services), Prof. A. Y. Abdulkareem, who recently lost his wife.

            The visit to Prof. Abdulkareem’s  residence in Ilorin was marked by prayers, words of comfort, and sincere gratitude from the bereaved for the University’s show of solidarity in his moment of grief.

            Speaking on behalf of the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole (SAN), the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Moji Taibat Bakare-Odunola, who led the delegation, conveyed the University’s deep sympathy to Prof. Abdulkareem and his family.

            She said, “On behalf of the Vice Chancellor, we pray that Almighty Allah grant her Aljannah Firdaus. It is just the time, the place, the how that is what we don’t know, but what we can do is to pray. May Almighty Allah watch over everything she left behind, including the children, Aamin”.

            In his response, Prof. Abdulkareem expressed deep appreciation to the Vice Chancellor, Management, and the entire University community for standing by him and his family during their period of mourning.

            He said, “The Vice Chancellor, Management, and all, I want to sincerely thank you all for this condolence visit. Almighty Allah has ways of doing things, and this is one of those ways. When it happens like this, all we need is shukr, the shukr comes from God but through fellow beings.

            “Having you here, we are glad and we deeply appreciate you. We pray Allah will continue to guide and protect every one of us. We also appreciate you on behalf of the head of our family. May God continue to elevate every one of us, and may the activities already planned for the forthcoming anniversary be a success, Insha Allah. Kindly help me appreciate the Vice Chancellor and everyone. May God bless you.”

             The Vice Chancellor’s representative was accompanied on the visit by the Deputy Vice Chancellor, (Management Services), Prof. Adegboyega Adisa Fawole; the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research, Technology and Innovation), Prof. Muhtar Adeiza Etudaiye; the Bursar, Mr Abiodun Lawal, represented by the Deputy Bursar, Mr Muhammad Akanbi; and the Director, Corporate Affairs, Mr Kunle Akogun.
