The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Management Services), Prof. Olalere Adeyemi is a distinguished scholar and an astute administrator born on July 31, 1959 in Erinmope, Ekiti State.
He is a professor of Yoruba Literature and Culture in the Department of Linguistics and Nigerian Languages at the University of Ilorin.
He attended the Divisional Teachers’ College, Oye-Ekiti from 1976 to 1979 for his Grade II Teacher Certificate Programme. He was also trained at the then Ondo (now Ekiti) State College of Education, Ikere-Ekiti, between 1980 and 1983 where he earned his Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE).
Prof. Adeyemi, thereafter, proceeded to the University of Ilorin, for his higher education. He obtained his Bachelor Degree in Yoruba and Education in 1988, Master of Arts in Language Education with specialisation in Yoruba in 1993; he also obtained his Master in Public Administration (MPA) degree in 1996. He capped his alluring academic qualifications with a doctoral degree in Yoruba Literature from the same university in 2003.
Prof. Adeyemi, a teacher of teachers, commenced his teaching career as a teacher in 1979 at St. Michael Primary School, Osi-Ekiti, Ekiti State. He also taught at Oluyole High School, Ibadan, as an NYSC Teacher from 1983 to 1984.
