KWSG to strengthen ties with UNILORIN

The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Kwara State, Mr Rafiu Ajakaye, has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to collaborating with the University of Ilorin in various areas, including personnel, intellectualism, facilities, and industrial relationships.
Mr Ajakaye gave this assurance while featuring on a popular Yoruba programme on “Oro to n lo” hosted by Mr. Idris Alooma, the General Manager of UNILORIN FM radio station, last Tuesday, (December 16, 2025).
The veteran journalist highlighted several initiatives undertaken by the Kwara State Government, including the Innovation Hub, Sugar Film Arts, Garment Factory, and Smart City, among others. He noted that the government has leveraged the expertise of University of Ilorin lecturers in training and retraining state staff.
The Chief Press Secretary commended the University’s contribution to the state’s educational development, citing Kwara’s victory in the National Champion Debate as a testament to the government’s commitment to education. He revealed that the state allocated 16.2% of its 2025 budget to education, surpassing allocations by many states to education.
He opined that the government has empowered youths in technology, Artificial Intelligence, and entrepreneurship, with many beneficiaries now gainfully employed. Mr Ajakaye assured that the government has a zero-tolerance policy on drug abuse and is working to ensure 100% security in the society.
Mr Ajakaye expressed government’s appreciation for the partnership with journalists and media houses in the state, stating that the collaboration has yielded great synergy and progress. He promised that the government will continue to prioritise security, welfare, infrastructure, health, education, and other key areas in the coming year.
