The Kwara State Chapter of the Society of Women Accountants of Nigeria (SWAN) has celebrated Miss Shukurat Opeyemi Abdullahi for emerging as the 2025 Best Female Graduating Student of the Department of Accounting, University of Ilorin.
Miss Abdullahi made a CCGP of 4.78 at the end of her four years training at the University.
Presenting an award to Miss Abdullahi last Monday (October 20, 2025) at the Office of the Head of the Department of Accounting, University of Ilorin, the Chairperson of the Kwara State Chapter of SWAN, Mrs Bilikisu Bola Lawal, said that the annual award was aimed at encouraging academic and professional excellence among female accounting students of the University.
Mrs Lawal, who described SWAN as an affiliate of the Chartered Institute of Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), congratulated Miss Abdullahi for her encouraging brilliance and astonishing integrity as She urged her to continue to be committed to career growth, personal and community development.
In his remarks at the event, the Dean of the Faculty of Management Sciences, Prof. Olaniyi Taiwo Azeez, expressed delight with the performance of the honouree.
Prof. Azeez, who is also a chartered accountant, urged Miss Abdullahi to always be humble and maintain her integrity, saying that if she does the sky would not limit her career progression.
Also speaking, a former Chairperson of Kwara SWAN and erstwhile Head of the Department of Accounting, Prof. Khadijat Adenola Yahaya, congratulated Miss Abdullahi on doing her family and gender proud.
Prof. Yahaya, who is the current Chairperson of the Kwara State Chapter of the Society for Women in Taxation (SWIT) and ex-Officio Member of SWAN, encouraged Miss Abdullahi to adhere strictly to all the advice given to her and never allow her success to derail her from deserving and enjoying an enviable future.
Responding, Miss Abdullahi thanked the Kwara SWAN for the honour, which, she said, “was unexpected but extremely exciting”.
Miss Abdullahi, who hails from Igbaja in the Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, thanked all her lecturers, particularly her Level Adviser, Dr A. O. Aliu, for their positive impacts on her since her first day as a student of the Department.
The honouree, who has also qualified as a chartered accountant, promised to continue to be a pride to the Department, the University of Ilorin, SWAN and the accounting profession.
The event was witnessed by several dignitaries including the Head of the Department of Accounting, Dr E. A. Adigbole and the Assistant General Secretary of Kwara SWAN, Mrs Afusat Ibrahim, among others.
