
Elelu delivers 283rd Inaugural Lecture Thursday

A former Director of theAcademic Planning Unit, University of Ilorin, Prof. Sulyman Alege Kuranga, has been elected into the Council of the West African College of Surgeons (WACS).The election took place during the College’s 65th Annual Scientific Conference held in Bamako, Mali.
In a letter addressed to the Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, a copy of which was made available to the UNILORIN Bulletin, Prof. Kuranga said, “I write with great honour and humility to formally inform you of my recent election into the Council of the West African College of Surgeons (WACS) during the 65th Annual Scientific Conference held in Bamako, Mali”.
He further disclosed that he was also appointed as a member of the Council’s Finance and General-Purpose Committee (F&GPC), a key body responsible for financial oversight and strategic decision-making within the College.
Reacting to the development on behalf of the Vice Chancellor, the University Registrar, Mr Mansur Adeleke Alfanla, congratulated Prof. Kuranga on his election and the subsequent appointment.
He added, “This is a remarkable honour for you and the University of Ilorin. It is a testament to your exemplary leadership, professionalism, commitment, and dedication to academic excellence and professional practice.”
