Kemi Omotosho, UNILORIN alumna, appointed MultiChoice CEO

An alumna of the Department of Biochemistry, University of Ilorin, Kemi Omotosho, has been appointed the new Chief Executive Officer of MultiChoice, an international Pay-TV company.
The appointment was announced by the organisation last Tuesday(January 14, 2026) following the retirement of Omotosho’s predecessor, John Ugbe.
According to Multichoice, which is the parent company of DSTV and GOTV, Omotosho has leadership experience across media, telecommunications and digital businesses in Nigeria, Central Africa and Southern Africa over the past 20 years.
Until her appointment as CEO of MultiChoice Nigeria, Omotosho was the company’s Regional Director for Southern Africa, where she managed an annual 300 million dollars revenue portfolio covering seven English- and Portuguese-speaking countries in Africa.
The Multichoice Group noted that the University of Ilorin alumna is recognised within the MultiChoice Group for her disciplined portfolio management and her ability to expand operational activities in challenging market environments.
Omotosho also built strong credentials for herself at Airtel Nigeria where she held roles in sales, enterprise accounts, postpaid usage and customer service between 2003 and 2013 before she joined MultiChoice in 2014.
Meanwhile, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, has congratulated the new Multichoice CEO on her appointment.
In a statement issued on his behalf by the Director of Corporate Affairs, University of Ilorin, Mr Kunle Akogun, the Vice Chancellor described Kemi Omotosho as a role model for the younger generation of Unilorites, noting that she is another shinning example of the dedication, erudition and excellence that products of the University are known for across the world.
