Kazeem, UNILORIN student, becomes Guinness World Records holder

…..Recognition, an anniversary gift  — Egbewole

A final year student of the Department of Mathematics, University of Ilorin, Mr Sanusi Akanbi Kazeem, has eventually secured a space in the Guinness World Records (GWR) for conducting the longest Mathematics lesson in history.

Mr Sanusi’s new status was confirmed by the GWR through a communication sent to him, a copy of which was sighted by UNILORIN Bulletin last Thursday (May 29, 2025). 

With this development, the efforts of Mr Sanusi has confirmed the Better-by-far status of the University and placed it in global reckoning as it has also found the Unilorite a secure place in the list of eminent academic dignitaries of all times.

                         Kazeem, who has a passion for Mathematics, taught the subject continuously for unprecedented 31 hours 42 minutes and 54 seconds on the University of Ilorin campus in April this year.

Speaking with UNILORIN Bulletin last Friday (May 30, 2025),  Kazeem said that he was very proud and grateful for what he had  achieved.

While noting that everything comes from God, Kazeem said that he would forever remain grateful to Him and all those who supported him to achieve the feat.

The 24 years old whizkid, specifically commended the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN and the entire management of the University as well as his teachers for their wonderful support.

While saying that the recognition would motivate him to do better in his studies and pursue a life of purpose, the new Guinness World Records holder assured all that he would continue to be a role-model to his contemporaries and younger ones for them to also pursue excellence in whatever they do.

            In his reaction, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, welcomed the development as he described it as an exciting episode in the annals of the University, particularly as it is preparing to celebrate its Golden Jubilee.

Prof. Egbewole, in a statement signed by the University’s Director of Corporate Affairs, Mr Kunle Akogun, said that he and the entire University community are delighted with the development beyond measure.

The Vice Chancellor commended Kazeem for his sacrifice, dedication and hardwork, which culminated in this “high honour”.

Prof. Egbewole, who said that Kazeem’s achievement, is an indication of the quality of services obtainable at the University, urged other students to emulate the laureate.

The Vice Chancellor, who commended the management and staff of the Faculty of Physical Sciences and the Department of Mathematics for moulding the laureate to global status, wished Kazeem a successful career.
