Kayode emerges UNILORIN 2025 Best Graduating Student

….as Kopada shines with 20 prizes

A graduate of the Department of Civil Engineering, University of Ilorin, Miss Elizabeth Omolara Kayode, has emerged the institution’s Best Graduating Student for the 2024/2025 academic session.
Miss Kayode, who bagged a First Class degree in Civil Engineering at the end of her five years programme at the University, earned a CPGA of 4.95.
The highly elated Miss Kayode was consequently presented with concomitant prizes by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, who stood in for the Chancellor of the University and Emir of Katsina, Alhaji Abdulmumini Kabir Usman, CFR.
The presentation was performed amidst thunderous applause and spontaneous standing ovation from dignitaries and others who converged on the University Auditorium for the highpoint of the 40th Convocation Ceremonies of the University last Thursday (October 23, 2025).
Another cynosure of all eyes at the event was Dr Ameenah Abiola Kopada , who graduated with Distinction in Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery. She emerged the Best Graduating Student of the College of Health Sciences, University of Ilorin.
Dr Kopada proved her brilliance by winning 22 different prizes endowed by several individuals, groups and organisations as she was also honoured with spontaneous standing ovation by all those who graced the ceremony.
In addition to the two, several other graduands also bagged different prizes to the applause of their fellow graduands and well-wishers from far and near.
Speaking on the development, the Director of Corporate Affairs, University of Ilorin, Mr Kunle Akogun, described the two honourees as proud products of the University as he congratulated them on making themselves, their families and womanhood proud.
Mr Akogun, who expressed gratitude to God for the smooth conduct of the one-week ceremonies, paid glowing tributes to the two ladies and other graduands who did well for justifying the quality of training they received at the University.
While saying that Unilorites are generally brilliant and hardworking, Mr Akogun encouraged students of the University to face their studies squarely and ensure that they organise themselves in such a way that the essence of their being in school will be justified as exemplified by the two ladies.
He expressed the conviction that more students of the University would record ground-breaking performances at the end of their programmes at the University going by the quality of staff and facilities the institution is blessed with.
