All is set for the Institute of Translation Arts, University of Ilorin, to host its maiden Public Lecture, aimed at transforming the field of translation and interpretation.
The Ag. Director of the Institute, Dr. Aliy Abdulwahid Adebisi, who disclosed this, said that the lecture is scheduled for next Monday (April 14, 2025), at 10.00 a.m. It will hold at the University Auditorium.
Dr Adebisi, who said that the Lecture, titled “Translation in the Digital Era: Navigating AI Disruptions and Opportunities,” will feature experts who will explore the intersection of translation and Artificial Intelligence (AI).
He added that notable speakers include Prof. Mahfouz Adebola Adedimeji, Vice-Chancellor of the African School of Economics, Abuja, and Dr Segun Afolabi, Assistant Professor of Translation at the University of Regina, Canada.
Dr Adebisi stated further that the distinguished guests of honour will include Prof. Adam Adebayo Sirajudeen from the Federal University, Lafia, Nasarawa State, and Dr Ahmad Abubakar Agbaje from Fountain University, Osogbo. The Chief Host will be Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, while Dr. Adebisi will serve as the Host.
The Director said that this landmark public lecture will present a unique opportunity for scholars, linguists, professionals, and enthusiasts to engage with the latest developments in translation and AI.
