The alumnus, who accompanied a close relation of his to the University campus to participate in the just concluded Post-UTME screening, said that he was delighted that the University has remained a bastion of excellence, discipline and vision.

According to him, “If you see any Nigerian graduate who is practically worthy in character and learning anywhere in the world, consider him trained in Ilorin until otherwise proven.”

Dr Saliu, who said that he had driven round the University for sight-seeing, pointed out that the difference is clear compared to what it was when he visited last.

He commended the patriotism, professionalism, vision and commitment of the successive leaderships of the University, saying that their cumulative efforts have impacted positively not only on the physical development of the campus but also on its soaring image among Nigerians.

Speaking on the upcoming 50th anniversary of the University, Dr Saliu said that the University deserves to be honoured and celebrated for what it represents among its peers.

He explained that after 50 years of academic leadership, mentoring and moulding the future, nation building and guiding generations, the University of Ilorin deserves a special anniversary.

Dr Saliu, who is also a political leader in Osun State, added, “I congratulate the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, and the entire members of staff and students of the University as well as all its products on the milestone.
