Ijaiya emerges JBU’s pioneer Vice Chancellor

A former Dean of the Faculty of Management Sciences and Member of the Governing Council, University of Ilorin, Prof. Muftau Ijaiya, has been unveiled as the pioneer Vice Chancellor of Jimoh Babalola University(JBU), Ilorin.
Prof. Ijaiya was officially presented as the first Chief Executive of the University by its founder, Alhaji Jimoh Babalola, last Thursday(December 18, 2025) at the premises of the University.
Speaking at the event, Alhaji Jimoh Babalola described the appointment as a significant milestone in the history of the newly established University as he noted that Prof. Ijaiya’s academic experience and leadership qualities would lay a solid foundation for the institution.
In his response, the new Vice Chancellor expressed gratitude to the founder of the University for the confidence reposed in him and assured stakeholders of his commitment to excellence, integrity, and innovation.
Prof. Ijaiya called on members of the academic community, the host community, and other stakeholders to work collectively towards the success of the new University.
The event was attended by several dignitaries including (the former Vice Chancellor of Al-Hikmah and Federal University of Technology, Minna, Prof. Musbau Akanji; the former Vice Chancellor of Fountain University, Osogbo, Prof. A. B. Oloyede; and former Dean of Social Sciences, University of Ilorin, Prof. Ijaiya; a former Dean of Law, University of Ilorin, Prof. Gafar Ijaiya; several other professors and lecturers from the University of Ilorin, the Director of Corporate Affairs, University of Ilorin, Mr Kunle Akogun; the Kwara State Commissioner for Health, Dr El-Imam, as well as the Chairman of Ilorin West Local Government, among several others.
