IESA exco, members visited family of late Yusuf

The leadership and some members of the Ilorin Emirate Staff Association (IESA), University of Ilorin, penultimate Saturday (February 7,2026) paid a condolence visit to the family of its former Chairman, the late Prof. Badmas Olanrewaju Yusuf.

Speaking during the visit, the IESA Chairman, Prof. Ibrahim Kayode Adam, described the late Prof. Yusuf as an exemplary scholar and an embodiment of service.

He added that the deceased was a unifying figure, and a man who dedicated his time, knowledge, and energy to the growth and stability of the  Association and the University of Ilorin at large..

Prof. Adam, who is also the Director of the Joint Universities Preliminary Examination Board Foundation School (JUPEB), added that the late Prof. Yusuf was not only a leader but also a mentor who worked tirelessly to strengthen unity within the Association and always prioritised the collective interest of members.

He added that the late scholar’s contributions extended far beyond the Association to academic development and community service, earning him respect within and beyond the Emirate and the wider academic community.

The Chairman recalled that the late Prof. Yusuf promoted dialogue, cooperation, and collective progress,  which, he said, helped to stabilise and reposition the Association.

He added that the late senior academic contributed immensely to the growth of the IESA through sound administrative guidance, wise counsel, and strong commitment to the welfare of members.

Prof. Adam, however, urged the widows, children, family members and associates of the late scholar to take solace in the positive legacy he left behind.

The IESA Chairman prayed to Allah to forgive his shortcomings, grant him Aljanah Firdaus, and give the entire family the fortitude to bear the loss. He assured the family members that the Association will continue to remember him for his outstanding service and humanity.

Responding, a widow of the deceased, Mrs Sifau Yusuf, thanked the IESA and the entire members of the University community for their support since the death of the late academic giant.

Mrs Yusuf, who is also an alumna of the University of Ilorin, assured that the family would uphold the fascinating legacies left behind by the late cleric-don.

Other members of the delegation included the Registrar, Mr Mansur Adeleke Alfanla; the Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Prof. Ibrahim Abdulganiyu Jawondo; the Director of the Physical Planning Unit, Mr Toyin AbdulRahman Jimoh; the Deputy Editor, UNILORIN Bulletin, Mr Abubakar Imam; and the Ag. Head of the Department of Physics, Dr Taofeeq Olanrewaju Lawal, among several others.
