IEDPU congratulates Oloyede, two others on Emeritus professorship

The Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union (IEDPU) has congratulated a former Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Is-haq Olanrewaju Oloyede, CON, on his appointment as an Emeritus Professor by the authorities of the same University.

The Union also congratulated a former Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Minna (FUTMinna), Prof. Musibau Adewumi Akanji, FNAS; and the Pro-Chancellor and Governing Council Chairman of the Confluence University of Technology, Osara, Kogi State, Prof. Olu Obafemi, FNAL, for earning the prestigious position.

In a statement signed by its National Secretary, Abubakar Imam, on behalf of the National President, Alhaji Abdulmumini Ayo Abdulmalik, the Union described the appointment of the trio as well-deserved, considering their profound resourcefulness and enormous contributions to the development of learning in their various fields.

The Union specifically commended Prof. Oloyede, an Emeritus Professor of Islamic Jurisprudence and Secretary-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), on his contributions to the development of the University right from his days as a student of the institution through his tenure as a staff and eventually as Vice Chancellor of the University from 2007 to 2012; as well as till date.

The Union recalled that Prof. Oloyede, who is currently the Registrar/Chief Executive of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), has recorded a very outstanding career, which has significantly impacted not only the University but also its host community and humanity at large over the years.

Alhaji Abdulmalik equally praised Prof. Oloyede, whom he described as a close associate of more than four decades, for the establishment of the Centre for Ilorin Studies (CILS) during his administration at the University, among other worthwhile impacts, which promoted harmonious relationship between the University and Ilorin community.

The President similarly said that the services of Prof. Akanji and Prof. Obafemi at the University remain visible, impactful and enviable within and beyond the shores of the University as he noted, with pride, that it was from Ilorin that the two gentlemen, like Prof. Oloyede, successfully explored and dominated the academic world.
