The Deputy Registrar in-charge of the Office of the Vice Chancellor, University of Ilorin, Mrs Azeezat Quadri Ibrahim, has emphasised the need for women to consciously invest in the development of others as a strategic pathway to personal growth and impactful leadership.
Mrs Ibrahim stated this penultimate Saturday (March 14, 2026) while speaking at this year’s edition of the International Women’s Day (IWD) organised by the Nigerian Air Force Officers Wives Association (NAFOWA) at the Police Officers Mess,Ilorin.
Speaking on the theme, “Give to Gain: Investing in Others as a Pathway to Personal Growth and Leadership,” Mrs Ibrahim commended NAFOWA for its sustained commitment to empowering women and supporting families within the Nigerian Air Force community.
She noted that organisations such as NAFOWA exemplify how strong institutions are built and sustained through the dedication and resilience of women who contribute significantly behind the scenes.
Mrs Ibrahim, who is also the Chairman of the Kwara State Chapter of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria (CIPM), described International Women’s Day as a global platform for recognising the immense contributions of women to societal development, adding that such recognition inspires greater commitment to nation-building.
The Deputy Registrar observed that the theme underscores the importance of shifting focus from personal accumulation to collective advancement, stressing that true success is often rooted in the ability to uplift others.
According to her, leadership capacity is enhanced when individuals deliberately share knowledge, provide guidance and encourage others to grow, noting that such actions multiply impact and expand influence.
She further stated that meaningful support does not always require financial resources, explaining that mentorship, time and encouragement remain critical tools for empowering others and shaping future leaders.
Mrs Ibrahim urged women to foster stronger collaboration, mentor younger ones and create opportunities for others, adding that lasting legacy is defined by the number of lives positively influenced rather than positions held.
