Group hails UNILORIN on production of quality manpower

The nation’s most sought-after university, the University of Ilorin, has again been commended for producing outstanding individuals, who are contributing to the socio-economic and political development of the country.

This commendation was made penultimate Saturday (April 26, 2025) by the President of the Ilorin Emirate Professors’ Association (IEPA), Prof. Abdulkabir Hussein Saliu, while speaking at a programme organised by the Association to celebrate a final year student of the Department of Mathematics, University of Ilorin, Mr Kazeem Akanbi Sanusi.

Mr Sanusi is currently being considered for a place in the Guinness World Book of Records for conducting the longest class in the teaching of Mathematics.

Prof. Saliu, who is a former Dean, Faculty of Arts, Kwara State University, Malete, said that the University of Ilorin has been doing very well in the generation of quality manpower for national development.

Speaking on the feat recently recorded by Mr Sanusi, a 400 Level student of the Department of Mathematics, Prof. Saliu explained that the record-breaking achievement of the promising Mathematician is worthy of being celebrated as it  inspires hard work among the youths.

He described Mr Sanusi not just as a pride of the better by far University but also that of the Ilorin Emirate, saying that his achievement is a milestone.

In his response, Mr Sanusi thanked the Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, for his fatherly support, which, he said, accounted for his success.

Mr Sanusi, who was accompanied to the event by his relations and the Dean of the Faculty of Physical Sciences, University of Ilorin, thanked the IEPA for celebrating him.

The highlight of the event was the presentation of a plaque, certificate of recognition and a cheque of ₦100,000 to the World record breaker by the Association.

The event, held at the National Secretariat of the Ilorin Emirate Development Union (IEDPU), was attended by a former Head of the Directorate of Corporate Affairs, University of Ilorin, Prof. Isiaka Zubair Aliagan; a former Head of the Department of Mass Communication, University of Ilorin, Prof. Saudat Salah Abdulbaqi; a Professor at the Department of Plant Biology, AbdulRahman Alanamu and Prof. Mubarak Oloduowo Ameen of the Department of Chemistry, among others.
