First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, lauds Unilorin’s Legacy of Excellence

The First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON, has praised the University of Ilorin for its commitment to quality education over the past five decades, describing the institution as a shining model of academic excellence and national development.
The First Lady, who was represented by the wife of the Governor of Kwara State, Ambassador Olufolake AbdulRazaq, who was further represented by the wife of the Chief Judge of Kwara State, Mrs Janet Olufunke Adebara, delivered the commendation in her goodwill message at the Grand Finale of the University’s 50th Anniversary Celebration held at the University Auditorium last Thursday (November 27, 2025).
Senator Tinubu noted that since its establishment in 1975, the University of Ilorin has remained dedicated to nurturing bright minds and producing graduates who continue to contribute meaningfully to national growth. She congratulated the University community on the milestone and applauded the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, for sustaining the institution’s enviable legacy.
The First Lady, who reechoed the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, reaffirmed the Administration’s commitment to expanding access to education as a fundamental pillar of national development.
She stated that the National Students Loan Scheme was designed to support students in tertiary institutions and ensure they complete their academic journeys without financial barriers.
While stressing that nation-building is a collective responsibility that involves families, communities, and institutions, she encouraged all stakeholders to create an environment where education can thrive and drive sustainable national growth.
Senator Tinubu urged students of the University of Ilorin to remain focused, work diligently, prepare to contribute to the nation’s future, and reinforce the University’s vision of shaping capable leaders for Nigeria and beyond.
