FET procures N7m COBES materials for field-training

The Faculty of Engineering and Technology (FET), University of Ilorin, has procured materials worth ₦7 million for its Community-Based Experience and Services (COBES) in order to boost its field-training capacity.

The Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Joshua Olanrewaju Olaoye, disclosed this last Friday (December 12, 2025), while speaking with UNILORIN Bulletin in his office.

Prof. Olaoye explained that the new materials were acquired to ensure greater comfort and better learning conditions for students deployed to various locations for the next COBES exercise.

According to him, many of the previously available items were either inadequate or damaged due to prolonged use.

The newly procured materials include 14 cooking hardware units with stands, 40 packs of mosquito nets, 16 rechargeable lamps, 12 toolboxes of different sizes, 14 first-aid boxes, 42 large foam mats, and various kitchen utensils.

The Faculty also acquired five laptops and a 3-in-1 colour printer, scanner set, complete with accessories for its COBES Office.

Prof. Olaoye expressed gratitude to the University Administration for its continuous support to his Faculty.

Also speaking, the Faculty COBES Coordinator, Prof. Y. L. Shuaib-Babata, commended the Dean for the initiative and assured stakeholders that all items would be properly maintained and judiciously utilised.
