Fashola hails Oloyede’s national service

…praises UNILORIN’s good reputation

The contributions of the 8th Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin and current Registrar, Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Professor Emeritus Is-haq Olanrewaju Oloyede, CON, to national and human development have again been commended.

               This commendation was made by a former Minister of Works and Housing, Mr Babatunde Raji Fashola, SAN, CON, who also praised the University of Ilorin’s sustainable good image. Mr Fashola made the remarks while delivering the 40th Convocation Lecture of the University last Wednesday October 22, 2025.

Mr Fashola, who is also a former Governor of Lagos State, recalled the numerous innovations and contributions of Prof. Oloyede as the Chief Executive of the University of Ilorin between 2007 and 2012 as he also assessed his current role as JAMB Registrar, saying that the  Professor Emeritus has done very well.

He said that the history of the University of Ilorin cannot be complete without adequate mention of the personality and contributions of the JAMB Registrar.

Mr Fashola described Prof. Oloyede as a remarkable alumnus and outstanding staff member of the University of Ilorin who will always occupy a pride of place in the annals of the institution.

Speaking on the University of Ilorin as an institution, Mr Fashola said that the University have been in the news for good, particularly in recent times.

He observed that the preparations and activities heralding the Golden Jubilee of the University has occupied the front burner of national discourse.

The renowned senior lawyer and politician commended the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, and his management team for their efforts in promoting the greatness of the University.

While commending the staff and students of the University for their patriotism to the institution as exemplified in their joyous rendition of the University Anthem, Mr Fasola also saluted the University management for ensuring judicious use of resources, saying that what he saw on the campus justified his position.
