About Department of Criminology and Security Studies

Criminology and Security Studies Department was established in 2014/2015 session to train students in pure and applied Criminology in the Faculty of Social Sciences. The department was fully accredited by the NUC visitation panel in October 2018 to train undergraduate and postgraduate students in Criminology and Security Studies.

Admission Requirements: B.Sc. Degree

(A) ‘O’ Level: 5 ‘O’ Level Credits including English Language, Mathematics and at least two other Social Science subjects from  Commerce, Economics, Geography, Government, and one from any other subject.

(B) UTME Subjects: English Language and at least two Social Science subjects from Geography, Commerce, Economics, Commerce plus one from any other subject from Arts/Science/Social Sciences.

(C) I. Direct Entry: At least two (2) “A” level passes to include two social sciences subjects such as Economics, Geography, Government and Sociology in GCE/IJMB/JUPEB or their equivalents to include (not less than) two social science subjects

 2.  National Diploma (Upper Credit) in related courses from recognized institutions.
