An ex-student of the University of Ilorin, Mr Muhammadul-Awwal Babatunde, has emerged as the best graduating student of the Al-Azhar University, Cairo, Egypt, for the year 2025.

Mr Babatunde, who studied Arabic at the famous University, graduated with the “Excellent First Class With Highest Honours”.

The achievement of the ex-Unilorite is quite historic as it was the first time a Nigerian would leave the over 1000 years old Al-Azhar University as its best graduating student.

He was found to be the best graduate from among thousands of students who hailed from Egypt and over 40 otherĀ  countries across the world.

Mr Babatunde was earlier admitted into the Department of Food Engineering, University of Ilorin, where he was trained for about three academic sessions before departing for Al-Azhar University on full scholarship.

Speaking with UNILORIN Bulletin, Mr Babatunde said that he would never forget the period of his studentship at the University of Ilorin.

The award-winning ex-Unilorite said that the knowledge he acquired and the lessons of life he was exposed to at the University of Ilorin did not only help him to succeed at Al-Azhar University but would also remain useful to him forever.
