The Department of Animal Production, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Ilorin, has rolled out the drums in celebration of Mr Olukayode Alamu Oladeji, who recently bowed out of active services of the University.
The modest get-together, which was held last Monday (July 14, 2025) at the Seminar Room of the Department, brought together staff, colleagues, students, friends, and family members who converged to celebrate Mr Oladeji on his glorious retirement.
Speaking at the event, the Head of the Department, Prof. Foluke E. Sola-Ojo, described the honouree as a pillar of the Department’s administrative affairs and a person whose years of dedication, humane and fatherly guidance will remain unforgettable.
Prof. Sola-Ojo urged all members of staff to emulate Mr Oladeji’s legacy of service as she prayed to God to grant the honouree sound health to enjoy his retirement to the fullest.
Others, who also spoke, extolled the virtues of Mr Oladeji. They described him as very accommodating, honest, hardworking and humble, saying that they would miss his fatherly counsel.
Responding, Mr Oladeji praised God for the privilege he was granted to serve the Universities in various capacities.
He recalled that he started from scratch and rose to the status of Principal Executive Officer at the University.
Mr Oladeji appreciated all those he worked with in the course of his career as he said that the memories of the moments he shared with them would remain with him forever.
The highlights of the ceremony included a special prayer for Mr Oladeji, led by Professors Atteh and A. A. Badmos and presentation of gift to the honouree.
