Emulate Salman, Alafara charges Unilorites
By Abubakar Imam
The immediate past Dean of the Faculty of Physical Sciences, University of Ilorin, Prof. Abdullahi Alafara Baba, has charged staff and students of the University to emulate the hardwork and humility of the pioneer Vice Chancellor of the Kwara State University of Education (KWASUED), Ilorin, Prof. Medinat Folorunso Salman, in order to sustain the good image of the University.
Prof. Alafara made this appeal last Wednesday (December 31, 2025) while speaking with UNILORIN Bulletin in his office.
The former Dean described Prof. Salman as an outstanding alumna and staff member of the University of Ilorin who has not only internalised but is also exhibiting its ethos.
Prof.Alafara also said that ever since he came to know Prof. Salman and most especially since her current appointment, the former Dean of the UNILORIN Faculty of Education has been serving as a good ambassador of the University.
He said that whoever emulates the fascinating leadership attributes of the KWASUED Chief Executive would go very far in life. He further applauded Prof. Salman for the trust she reposed in him and “anything UNILORIN” for making him to chair the ceremonials committee, which planned and executed the maiden Matriculation Ceremony of the new University, which was held last month, among other events.
The former Dean said that Prof. Salman is a very good alumna of the University of Ilorin, who has been moulding her new University in a way that it would become a great institution in no distant time.
Prof. Alafara, who is currently on sabbatical leave at the new University, said that he has observed the KWASUED Vice Chancellor pursuing her new job with diligence and integrity that only an alumnus of the UNILORIN is capable of doing.
The former Dean also observed that the new University is drawing great inspiration from the University of Ilorin as most members of its pioneering management team are drawn from the better by far University.
Prof. Alafara added that if KWASUED continues with the way it has started, the new University would replicate the service delivery, community impact and greatness that characterised the five decades history of the University of Ilorin.
