The Dean of the Faculty of Management Sciences, University of Ilorin, Prof. Taiwo Azeez Olaniyi, has urged alumni of the University, particularly those of the Faculty, to emulate the philanthropic dispositions of the Dan Amana Gari of Ilorin Emirate, Dr Abdulkadir Tunji Nagode, for the University to remain on top.
Prof. Olaniyi gave this advice last Wednesday (September 3, 2025) while taking delivery of the renovated library of the Faculty and some equipment donations by Dr Nagode at the Faculty premises.
The Dean explained that Dr Nagode has demonstrated an uncommon large-heartedness through his donations, which he described as timely, exciting and encouraging.
While saying that the support was the first of its kind that the Faculty would receive since his assumption of duties, the Dean thanked Dr Nagode, who is also a topnotch of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC), for deeming it fit to give back to the Faculty from where he received his postgraduate training.
Prof. Olaniyi added that with the comprehensive renovation and provision of equipment running into millions of naira, students of the Faculty would have a place where they can read and access critical information on their various courses of study.
The Dean, who said that there are several other areas in which assistance of the alumni are needed, assured the donor that the facilities and resources provided would be judiciously utilised to improve teaching and learning.
Also speaking, the President of the Management Sciences Students Association, University of Ilorin, Mr Abraham Edem Edidiong, expressed gratitude to Dr Nagode for giving back to the Faculty.
Mr Edidiong, who is a 300 Level student of the Department of Business Administration, urged other well-to-do alumni to support the Faculty to enable it provide quality services to its students.
Earlier in his remarks, Dr Nagode said that he was motivated by the need to ensure that the library of the Faculty is as decent and well-equipped as possible as part of the preparation towards the upcoming Golden Jubilee of the University.
Dr Nagode, who was represented by Mr Taiye Alaya, said that the renovation and equipment gulped about ₦4,000,000 and that he would do more as time progresses.
The donor urged the management and staff of the Faculty to make effective use of the materials so as to encourage assistance from others.
The event was witnessed by staff members of the Faculty, including a former Dean, Prof. Mufutau Adeniyi Ijaiya; a former Director of Ilorin Business School, Prof. Ismaila Bolarinwa Kadiri; Prof. Yusuf Ismail Mustapha and the Ag. Head of the Department of Business Administration, Dr. Ganiyu Taiwo Oladipo.
