The Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji (Dr.) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, CFR, has turbaned a staff of the University School, University of Ilorin, Mr Abdulkareem Muhammad Oluwasegun as the 11th Ajia Afunkulola of Alanamu, Ilorin.

At the turbaning ceremony that held penultimate Friday (February 7, 2025) at the Emir’s Palace, Ilorin, the Emir advised the newly installed Ajia Afunkulola to focus on uniting the people in his domain and preserving Ilorin’s cultural values and heritage.

 He also cautioned against indiscriminate land sales, urging him to act in the best interest of the community.

The Emir said that Ajia Afunkulola is one of the subjects of Balogun Alanamu, emphasising the importance of loyalty and responsibility in his new role.

In their remarks, families and associates of the newly turbaned title holder expressed gratitude to the Emir for the honor. They also commended the Balogun Alanamu, Dr. Abubakar Atolagbe Jos, for recommending Mallam Abdulkareem for the prestigious position.
