The Emir of Ilorin and Chairman, Kwara State Council of Chiefs, Alhaji (Dr) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, CFR, has commended the University of Ilorin for extending its Corporate Social Responsibilities endeavours to its host community.
Alhaji Sulu-Gambari gave this commendation on his palace last Wednesday (January 30, 2025) while receiving the organogram of the Emirate prepared by the Centre for Ilorin Studies (CILS), University of Ilorin.
The royal father explained that the community has benefited extensively from the services of the University since its establishment as he added that Ilorin has not remained the same since the coming of the University about 50 years ago.
The Emir specifically thanked the CILS for coming up with the Emirate organogram, which he explained has become a historical material that would be perpetually useful to the community.
Presenting the item to the Emir, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, said that the effort was informed by the need to promote knowledge, peace and understanding in the Univers
Speaking earlier, the Director of the CILS, Prof. Issa Olarongbe Sanusi, said that the organogram was prepared based on the support of the Emir and his Baloguns, particularly the Balogun Agba, who is also the Balogun Gambari of Ilorin, Alhaji Muhammad Aliyu Adebayo; and the Balogun Alanamu of Ilorin, Dr Uthman Abubakar Akanbi-Jos.
Prof. Sanusi also thanked all those who supported the project as he expressed his conviction that the material would be useful for the leadership and members of the Emirate Council as well as indigenes of the community.
The event was witnessed by the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Moji Taibat Bakare-Odunola; the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research, Technology and Innovation), Prof. Muhtar Etudaiye; the Registrar, Mr Mansur Adeleke Alfanla; the University Librarian, Prof. Kamaldeen Tunde Omopupa; and the Bursar, Mr Biodun Lawal.
Also in attendance were Mr AbdulRasheed Gidado Dauda, a member of the University Governing Council; the Director, Centre for Peace and Strategic Studies (CPSS), Prof. AbdulGaniyu Ibrahim Jawondo as well as some staff of the CILS.
